China Opens the Longest Suspension Bridge in the World

The Yangtze Bridge on the Yangtze River, the two-story hanging construction with the longest stretch in the world, took five years of work to open to traffic this week.

The bridge connects Hanyang and Wuchang and its opening will significantly improve the urban highway system, relieve traffic pressure across the river and boost development in the area.

According to the China Railroad Bridge Engineering Group, based in Wuhan, Hubei province.

This is the first two-story road bridge on the Yangtze River, the company said, and announced that the completion and opening of the bridge, as scheduled, will facilitate the next seventh CISM Military World Games in Wuhan.

The bridge is 4.13 kilometers long, with 12 lanes in both directions on the main bridge.

It is a suspension bridge with the largest capacity in the world, the company said.
