Marshalls has more than 1,000 stores in the United States and its customers are delighted with the variety of renowned brand products they offer for the whole family and home, and now you can buy all of that through their online store.
So far, the discount retailer had worked very well with just their physical stores, but this Tuesday they announced that they have finally launched an online store.
Marshalls announced that their new website will have a “fresh and changing mix of merchandise” that will mimic their famous in-store treasure hunt experience, according to CNN.
Marshalls is owned by TJX Companies, which also operates HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx. The latter has had an online store for several years.
“It’s smart because it gives Marshalls a good path to future growth,” Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail, told CNN Business.
Saunders explained that the Marshalls online store had not been a priority for the company because they were focused on expanding their profitable physical locations. However, online shopping is a resource I eventually needed to take advantage of.
He also cautioned that TJX should “be careful” that its online store does not cannibalize its stores.
“One of the key things about the off-price model is that people will negotiate hunting in a physical store, which is not always translated online,” Saunders said.
In TJX’s most recent earnings, same-store sales failed estimates, in part because of the increase in off-price stores that Macy’s and Nordstrom opened.
