Espanyol attacker Wu Lei has tested positive for coronavirus, as reported by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) in a statement, which clarifies that the footballer’s symptoms “are mild” and that he is “under treatment.”
The Chinese Association has maintained “close communication with both the club and Wu Lei.”
In addition, the Chinese body has indicated that it will provide all the assistance that is necessary. “We wish him a speedy recovery,” they added.
Wu Lei, 28, is in isolation at his home in Barcelona. Espanyol reported four days ago that six members of the first squad, including footballers and the coaching staff, were affected by the virus with mild symptoms.
“My mental state is very good and my symptoms have practically completely disappeared,” said the Espanyol attacker, who confessed that “I can’t wait to go back to the stadium.”
Lei also took the opportunity to send a message to his followers to make them aware of what is happening worldwide.
“I hope everyone can pay attention to the virus. In China we have not completely defeated it. Thanks for the concerns and blessings. I think we will definitely overcome the epidemic”
The Catalan entity has ceased all its sports activity and facing the public, closing the official stores and the bar of the Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque. Espanyol follows all the protocols and recommendations of the health authorities.
