The former English soccer player Peter Crouch has revealed what the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo used to respond to his Manchester United teammates when they bothered him by saying that Lionel Messi was better than him.
Crouch, international with England between 2005 and 2010, talked regularly with some Manchester players during the national team’s calls.
“I asked them how Ronaldo was, and they told me they used to irritate him by saying that Messi was better, to which he replied: ‘Yes, but Messi doesn’t look like this’ [physically],” he told a Daily Mail program.
For Redknapp, Portuguese is better than Argentine.
“You look at Ronaldo, what he has done on the world stage: he has won everything and it is simply incredible,” he said.
To which Crouch replied: “I admire your mentality and your determination, but if you are talking about talented soccer players, there is no comparison with Messi.”
Keown also considers that Lío is better than CR7, and even thinks that the star of FC Barcelona “will reinvent itself now”, at the end of his football career, something that he thinks the star of Juventus in Turin will not be able to do.
However, Redknapp insisted on his position: “They say [Ronaldo] is the last to leave the training, and I thought Messi was like that too,” until “I met two coaches who worked in Barcelona and told me it was a Nightmare” for Pep Guardiola when he ran the bench of the Spanish squad.
“They told me that [Messi] arrived in the morning and didn’t train much. He kicked a couple of balls and left. I couldn’t believe it,” said the English coach.
